This Cookies Policy explains how Alpha Edge Media (“Alpha Edge Media,” “we,” “our” and/or “us”) and the other Aether Holdings Inc. companies use cookies and similar technologies on our website and affiliated websites (collectively, the “Sites”), our mobile and software applications (the “Apps”), and our publications, newsletters, memberships, webinars, conferences and other online offerings (collectively with the Sites and Apps, the “Services”). It supplements, and should be read together with, our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
By using our Services, you agree to our use of cookies and similar technologies as described in this Cookies Policy. Where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device.
I. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies
A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that we store on your browser or the hard drive of your computer or mobile device if you agree. Cookies allow a service to recognise your browser or device, remember your preferences, and understand how the service is being used.
We also use technologies that work in a similar way, including web beacons (also known as pixel tags or clear GIFs), local storage, software development kits (“SDKs”) in our Apps, and mobile device identifiers. In this Cookies Policy we refer to all of these collectively as “cookies.”
Cookies may be “session” cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or “persistent” cookies, which remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. They may be set by us (“first-party” cookies) or by a third party acting on our behalf or for its own purposes (“third-party” cookies).
II. Categories of Cookies We Use
We use the following categories of cookies across our Services:
| Category | Purpose | Can it be disabled? |
| Strictly necessary | Required to operate the Services — for example, to route requests, maintain a secure session, remember items you have added to an order, and enforce security and fraud-prevention measures. Without these cookies the Services cannot function. | No. These cookies are essential and cannot be switched off in our systems. |
| Performance and analytics | Help us understand how visitors interact with the Services — which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, and whether they encounter errors — so that we can measure and improve performance. This includes Google Analytics and other third-party analytics providers. | Yes. See Section V. |
| Functionality | Remember choices you make — such as your login state, language, or display preferences — so that we can provide a more personalised experience. | Yes. Disabling these may cause parts of the Services to stop working as intended. |
| Targeting and advertising | Set by us and by our advertising partners to build a profile of your interests, to show you advertising that is relevant to you on our Services and on non-affiliated sites, and to measure the effectiveness of that advertising. This is known as interest-based advertising. | Yes. See Sections IV and V. |
III. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on our Services are placed by third parties, including analytics providers, advertising networks, social networks, payment processors and other vendors that perform services on our behalf. These third parties are independent from Aether Holdings Inc. companies, and their use of the information they collect is governed by their own privacy notices, not by this Cookies Policy.
Our Services may also include integrated social media tools or “plug-ins.” If you interact with those features, the third party that provides them may collect information about you and use and share it in accordance with your account settings with that third party. We encourage you to carefully read the privacy notices of any third-party accounts you create and use.
IV. Digital Advertising and Analytics
We may partner with ad networks and other ad serving providers (“Advertising Providers”) who serve ads on behalf of us and others on non-affiliated sites. Some of those ads may be personalised, meaning they are intended to be relevant to you based on information Advertising Providers collect about your visits to our Services and other non-affiliated sites or applications over time, including information about the possible relationships among different browsers and devices.
Aether Holdings Inc. companies adhere to the Digital Advertising Alliance (“DAA”) Self-Regulatory Principles in connection with this interest-based advertising activity, and to the European Digital Advertising Alliance (“EDAA”) Principles in the European Union in connection with this activity.
V. Your Choices and How to Manage Cookies
You have a number of ways to control cookies:
- Industry opt-out tools. Visit www.aboutads.info/choices, or http://youronlinechoices.eu if you are located in the EU, to opt out of interest-based advertising on your browser by companies participating in these industry choice tools.
- Mobile apps. To opt out of interest-based advertising in mobile apps by companies that participate in the DAA’s AppChoices app, download it for iOS or Android and exercise your choice. You may also use the settings available on your mobile device to limit ad tracking.
- Analytics. For more information about how Google Analytics collects and uses data when you use our Services, visit https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners. To opt out of Google Analytics, visit https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/.
- Browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete some or all cookies by activating a setting on your browser. However, if you use your browser settings to block some or all cookies, our Services may not function as intended.
Note that electing to opt out will not stop advertising from appearing in your browser or applications. It may make the ads you see less relevant to your interests. If you use a different browser or device, you should renew your opt-out choice on each browser or device, because the opt-out is itself stored in a cookie on that browser or device.
VI. Do Not Track and Universal Opt-Out Signals
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) setting. There is currently no industry consensus on how to respond to DNT signals, and our Services do not respond to them. Where required by applicable state law, we will honour a user-selected universal opt-out signal, such as Global Privacy Control, as an opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. See Section VIII. US Privacy Rights of our Privacy Policy for more about these rights.
VII. Changes to This Cookies Policy
Aether Holdings Inc. companies may make changes to this Cookies Policy from time to time. You should check this page periodically to learn of any updates. If we make changes to this Cookies Policy, we will post the amended version via our Services and the effective date will be updated. Your continued use of the Services indicates that you agree to those updates.
